Next Suzanne Collins project

I'm always interested in what my favorite authors are doing next, so when I heard that Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games) is putting out a children's book next, I was intrigued.
The book, Year of the Jungle, is based on her experiences as a child while her father was serving in Vietnam. I'll be looking forward to it in June!

August already?!?!

Is it me or did the summer go by WAY to quickly? We're gearing up for a new school year already, and there are some things to get excited about:

• I just unpacked 6+ boxes of NEW BOOKS! I hope we have enough shelf space!
• We are starting the year with more Mark Twains and Truman nominee books than we had last year. This year's list is pretty darn good. I liked almost all of them. 
• We got some new computer tables for the library. They will make group work and study time in the library so much better! Plus, the chairs are comfy.
• The activity on the Quia website for the West Readers' Achievement Program is up. Keep reading and taking those quizzes if you want to get prizes. First deadline is August 17!

Missouri Book Award Winners!

The winners of the Missouri Book Awards for 2011-2012 were announced at MASL.
We're exited to hear that the winner of the Mark Twain Award is Runaway Twin by Peg Kehret and the winner of the Truman Award is The Maze Runner by James Dashner.
